Hi,

I am in the process of cycling my new 180ltr tank, at the moment I have a 70 Ltr with the following:

1X KUHLI LOACH (did have six, see last fish listed)
4X BLUE RAM
3X GLASS CATFISH (did have 4, see last fish listed)
2X HILLSTREAM LOACH
1X AFRICAN BUTTERFLY FISH
1X ELEPHANT NOSE FISH
1X FEATHERFIN SYNODONTIS
1X SPOTTED RAPHAEL
1X SENEGALESE BICHIR

I know some of you may have stocking concerns, but the last three listed are all juveniles bought knowing that i will upgrade soon.

My questions are:

1) can anyone suggest a transfer plan for the fish. Do transfer all fish over in one go, one at a time, which should go first / last etc.

2) I have 1 male blue ram and 3 females - none get on with each other and the male is particularly boisterous. Shall i put him in last, so that the females feel as thought they "own" the tank and get a bit more assertive towards him.

3) Is there any room for any more fish

4) If so, any suggestions based on what I already have.

5) Can anyone recommend a silent filter for an 180ltr tank - i've only had it set up for 4 days and the girlfriend is already moaning about the noise.

Many thanks

When I upgraded from a 126ltr to 200, I did all the fish in one go, though I'm not sure if this is the best way. Get some plastic bags from the fish shop and acclimatise them to the new tank as you would a new fish. Start with the least aggressive fish and let them find a good hiding place before releasing any aggressive ones.

Hope this helps. Sorry i can't help with the stocking questions.

I have just transferred from a 80 to 190 corner tank. I have community fish and a lot more than you. I transferred them all at once and they were fine. I transferred most of the water and a bit of gravel and rinsed the filter media in my old tank. This seems to have worked and they have all found their places. I have 37 fish in my tank some are tiny. The filter issue depends on how much you have to spend. i have jewel tanks and the filters are silent. They come with the tanks as aset up but you can buy them seperately. They are brilliant filters and easy to maintain.
