I put my 2 silver platy's in the 65ltr hospital tank I had as they were being aggressive to little Gilbert, the orange platy.

They acclimatised quite well but last night I got the shock of my life as one platy had given birth!!

I had no idea the babies would be so small - and I think I've only seen approx. 6... what I would like to know is:

1. with them being so small will the parents eat them? - they're quite fast so seem to swim out of the way quickly
2. I was too late to put the fry net in as I didn't realise ma was pregnant so will they be ok?
3. what do i feed them & how?! I can barely see them!
4. How long does it take for them to grow?
5. Can I just keep them in the 65ltr tank & get a new hospital tank?

Thanks for any help!

congrats on your first fry. yes they are very tiny and will stuggle to see them, as for feeding most just feed them finely crushed flake in small amounts 3 times a day, the adults will eat them given the chance so watch out if you want to raise them, you could get a new tank for the adults but then it would take weeks to cycle in which time the fry would have grown, now you've had one lot the female will continue to have fry every 4 weeks for upto 7 months depending on whether this is her first lot or not. if you have any other questions feel free to PM me :good:
