Fish Crazy
Today we travelled down to Dundee to visit house of pices, dobbies, then decided to go to Coupar and have a look at ultimate aquatics.
Right from the minute i walked in i was impressed, the whole store is so clean and bright and they have the biggest selection of marine fish i have seen up here in Scotland.
The tropicals are well labeled and i noticed lots of information and advice on various tanks too.We were left along for a while to browse and then we were asked if we needed any help, when we did need assistance it was easy to track someone down and he came and saw to us right away even though he was busy doing something else at the time.
I bought 4 red zebra cichlids and i was asked what i would consider to be all the right questions without feeling like my intellegence was being insulted,it was made very clear that these guys care for the fish and not just a sale.
I was also very impressed with the way my fish were bagged, each one in a seperate back which was filled with air and the corners of the bags taped to prevent any leaks.
The assistant was even more than happy to give us advice on lighting.
We got home not too long ago and the zebras are currently being aclimatised and look really happy.
Absolutely delighted with the service, only down side is it being so far away from Aberdeen but i will deffinately be visiting again.
Shame i can't say the same for dundee pets@home,never had problems with them before but today one of the fish i bought died within 30 minutes or so of purchase and they tried to fob me off with all sorts of lame excuses, the poor thing was stressed out due to the young assistant who had no idea what he was doing, taking 30 minutes to catch 3 fish,i did eventually get a refund and also told them that they should make sure any staff being left along in the fish dept should atleast be trained, before we got served i watched him sell some fairly large silver dollard without asking the customer any questions whatsoever (this was after the customer had asked what they were).
