I had a black angel since December, who died two days ago after a brief period where it seemed lethargic. Today, my Blushing Angel that I have had since mid-January is on the brink of death - I do not have an emergency tank, so I have it in the net, floating in the water as the other fish were picking at it. Both of them seemed to have torn fins before they became lethargic. They were in a peaceful tank; tankmates were 1 Gold Severum, 3 Serpae Tetras, 2 Blue Rams, 2 Albino Cories, 1 Bandit Cory, 2 Hatchetfish (however, I can't find the other today. I looked... it didn't jump out... my dad could have removed it earlier if it died somehow when I was at school) 1 Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami, and as a replacement, a newly introduced Marbled Angel.

Water Stats, though these are a bit dated, I could do some more later.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20
PH - 7

About a month ago, the nitrates had skyrocketed to 80, though we reduced them to twenty in a few days. EVen though this was awhile ago, could it have damaged the Angelfish permanently?

How many gallons is the tank?
Are the fish still eating.
Do the fish look pale or darker in colour.
Do the fish look bloated or thin.
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Any excess mucas on the gills or body of the fish.
Can the fish maintain there balance in the water.
Do the fish rest on plants, or lay on the substrate to oneside.

You need to find the missing fish as rotting bodies can cause bad water quality and desease.

My tank is overstocked, 20gal, though I am getting a 55 or 70 sometime in the future, and the fish that mihtg seem big for this tank are still small at the moment, no fish over 2 inches.
All the fish are eating fine, though I tested this with the Blushing Angel today with a tiny amount of bloodworm, and it seemed too weak to eat it. I feed every other day bloodworms or flakes, once weekly a catfish pellet.
All fish seem to be at normal weights.
Colors are normal.
I rarely get to see my fish poop, but when I do, I don't see anything out of the ordinary.
Can't tell with the mucas.
The first fish started losing it's balance right before it died. The second one was laying at the bottom of the tank when I saw it. Now, in the net, it is swimming slowly but not sideways or anything... they lay in the substrate.

I am still looking for the Hatchetfish. I called my dad and he didn't remove it...

You need to improve there diet with more frozen foods like brime strimp and daphnia.
Daphnia very good as it helps the fish digest its foods. Also introduce some green veg into there diet like peas, broc, cucumba, cabbage, sproats broc.

Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down and pop out of shell. mush into small peices and add to the tank.
Sometimes fish won't always eat veg the first few times, so keep trying.
Remove uneaten food from the tank.

I think I would add a bacterial med to the tank.
Maracyn one or use both maracyn one and two to cover all bases.

Is the fish breathing laboured or heavy.

Need to keep up with water changes and gravel vacs once a week.

I do have some frozen brine shrimp, but I feed it rarely as it tends to be messing. But I'll feed it to them tomorrow.... I think I have some left.
Vegetables? I'll give that a try, too :)
I'll get that medicine too, tonight or tomorrow...
Even the sick fish seem to be breathing normally.

Keep us all up dated.
Good Luck.
