okay i just finished a two round ich treatment in my tank. my fish are acting very weird. atm a few of them are just floating in one spot and swiming left-to-right, and another is sitting at the filter corner at teh water level all have the top fins down. they don't appear to be breathing heavy or anything. and all signs of Ich are gone including the wound my cardinal tetra had is cleared away. Okay my water stats are showing perfect...

ammonia 0
nitrate 0
nitrite .025
ph is 7.5

water temp is at 82F or so. okay so any ideas???? they aren't rubing against rocks or flicking just floating there. ty.

What fish are acting weird.
Have you done a water change and run some black carbon to get the med out of the tank,.

they are mollies & platies. i placed a carbon sac into the filter along with the spondge and i just did a about 50% water change with added conditioner. they are still at the top of the water level not sure what is wrong.

20 gal tank
20 fish which are cardinals, platies & mollies.

6 mollies are fry still small about one and a half inch in size which were given to me.
and i forgot tomention their poo is looking all normal to me :)

Replyed once but the site went slow and not put the reply up.
When you did the 50% water change did you match temp.
Do the platys look like there swimming in place but getting no where.

i always tend to make the water a little more on the cold side, i was told to place cold water whenever changing. here is a video footage i hope the link works.

Shouldnt alter the temp be more than two degrees each way.
Is it the pale orange platy if so no it dosn't look right.

Shimmies

Symptoms:

This disease is named for the curious behavior seen in afflicted fish. Fish will swim with an odd, shimmying movement of the body. If left untreated, the afflicted fish will become unable to swim and will sit on the bottom, listlessly shimmying. This disease affects mostly livebearers, and particularly Mollies.

Cause:

Cause unkown but may be due to a variety of numerous pathogens, including protozoan, bacterial, and fungal.

Treatment:

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank and increase the temperature to 85°F (27°C). Treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also ensure that the water chemistry is within acceptable ranges. Livebearers' should always be kept in water that has a pH of 7.8 - 8.3 and a hardness of 15°DH+.

the one you see in Video 2, bouncing off the rock is an orange mollie not sure why she is doing that or the cause.
i didn't manage to catch the female platy but she has been hanging around the suface latly near the heater, dunno why,

any ideas what is going on Wilder?

oh okay, so it's shimmy great another i'llness in my tank LOL :(
what types of medication can i buy that i have to search for? (brand names?)
i guess i will treate the entire tank.

It look washed out to me like a really pale fish.
How old is the platy.
Could be its time up.
When they hang around near the top for long periods bad news.
Is it active alot of does it rest and be listless at times.

In the article I left it said abroad spectrum antibiotic, that means one that covers gram and pos bacteria's.
Also antibiotics like tetracycline wipe the beneifcal bacteria out in your filter.
Can you issolate the sick fish.

no she is not old maybe 5 months or so, and it's a type of golden mollie.
i don't have anywhere to place her but woun'dt i have to treat the entire tank?

I would issolate the fish if you can.
When your read the shimmies article did it sound like that to you.

i have no place to isolate her. i read the article..

"Shimmies, also known as "Molly Disease" or "Livebearer Disease", is most commonly seen in Mollies. It gets it's name from the action it causes the fish, which is to stay relatively still and wag, or "shimmy" its body from side to side, and often includes the fish scratching and itching on objects in its environment."

yes this sounds like what is going on and it says i can add some salt which will be enough instead of medications. can i use cooking salt, if so how much per-gallons??

Depends on what other fish you have in the tank.
Household salt fine in small doses.
Its usually one tablespoon to five gallons.
Sorry got to go to bed now tired.
Good luck.

i have cardinal tetras, mollies, and platies only :)

Not sure about cardinal tetra I would check on the salt as I know neons tetra don't tolerate to much salt.
Good luck hope the fish gets well soon.

Wilder is shimmying contagiouse, will the other fish get it?
