been keeping fish now for about four/five months now and am realy enjoying it. i think knowledge is the key though, so i've been talking to people in the know, reading and trawling through questions and answers on here to help myself (all helps). Anyways my mate has been watching my tank grow and thought 'i wanna piece of that'. so he got a small tank and i've been helping him get it ready for his first fish. today was that day!! i came home from work, he pops round to say hi and announce proudly that he's introduced his first fish. Not the pair of platties i recomended but a healthy pair of now gasping GOLDFISH :hyper: !
Knowledge is the key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps, he rushed home to turn of the heater and lower the water temperature, silly story but thoght i'd make my second ever post a light hearted one untill i really need your help with some sort of disaster.

that's the point of lowering the water temp, warm water has less O2 than cold water.

but there may be other issues at hand. two goldies in a tank that hasn't cycled yet is pretty risky as they produce a lot of waste, not to mention they leech a lot of oxygen out of the water, so in this heat it would be advisable to have a LOT of surface movement and a strong aerator. How big is the tank? And do you know whether they are commons or fancies?

they've been taken out of the tank al together now and put into a friends, daughters well established goldfish tank. ps not sure what type they are haven'n't seen them yet but must look similar to platties!

Perhaps they are just a couple of comets. Similar body shape and colouration to someone who doesn't know the difference?
