i used to have some in a little tank and they lived for like 45 days then died. but i was wonder could i put them in my comunity tank...cause i really like the way they look and would love to put them in my fish tank. and am just wondering if ne one else has ever done that...they are very cool to any one who has never had them before just amazing little guys

don't know about a community tank. I think it would work. They may get eaten however. You said they died 45 days later. did you try to take care of the eggs. I'm not sure how you go about it. I seem to remember that it involved removing them from water and letting them dry out before you return them to the water. If you do this you are supposed to be able to keep a colony of triops indefinitly.

You should make sure they're big enough before they're put in your tank. Any big fish would probably make a snack of them in a second if they're too small. Remember that a fish can open its mouth BIG!!!

I have put my Triop in with my community. I have had him in with my rummynoses, neons, pencilfish, khulis, x-rays, and silver tip tetras and he's fine.

In my tank i already had a small angel but their fine together.
You need to make sure that its a full adult, so its shell is hardened, and make sure u get enough food to it, and itll be fine:)

Hope this Helps

If its just the American species of triops - Triops longicaudatus - then it should be fine as long as the fish are too small to eat the the triops and there arent any overly small fish like small neons in the tank.
Triops eat large fairy shrimp, tadpoles and baby frogs (or in the case of fully grown Triops cancriformis, larger frogs and sometimes small fish) in the vernal pools they come from so if there isn't enough food to scavenge in the tank and they get hungry - your fish could be a risk. Though not overly good at catching fish, they 'hunt' 24/7 so make short work of sleeping fish.
To be safe you should buy some tasty live plants like elodea for your tank, that way they wont go hungry and start looking towards the fish for food.
I wouldn't risk anything under 1.5 inches with triops longicaudatus, I've done t in the past and regretted it (though to be fair the fish was ill) :good: .

Oh and the fish would eat any baby's that would hatch from the eggs (so will the triops for that matter) and if you have any bottom dwellers like corydoras, they will eat any other eggs that will be laid in the substrate.
