Apart from hospilisation and lots of water changes anyone with any advice would be really really greatly appreciated as I am desperate not to loose my blue acara.

Maracyn 1 and 2 combined full dose of each, 10 - 14 days with 50% water changes daily worked wonders for me. Dont go by box instructions, I used it full for 14 days with the water changes and nothing died and everything cured. THANK YOU TOLAK!!!!

Thanks for your help but its not available in the uk so I have been told by the lfs.

Thanks, but I lost him at 2am this morning.

Once septicemia advances it hard to cure.

There only one med I know of that says it treat septicemia and that anti internal bacteria med by interpet. But it not very good in my opinion.
There also furanol by jbl, but you can only use it in isolation, as it wipes the beneifical bacteria out in the filter.

Bless him.
R.I.P.

Plenty of water changes on main tank, as bacteria from the fish can enter the tank water and infect others.

Thanks anyway, he was not 100% when I got him, I had treated him for every ailment possible, but he was small for a male acara and the water he arrived in was horrific. I had him since the end of February and done everything possible, I guess the septicemia was caused by his internal organs failing. I did my best.

That's all you can do is try your best.
Sorry for your loss.
