Michigan. ugh.
How might i go about transporting my fish about 1000 miles?
silly, but me and my boyfriend both are looking into jobs at disney world, and we live in michigan.
(US)

and we both have fish.

on his cichlid forum, they suggested, a large tupperware thing, with a filter and heater running off your car and all that.

(haha, i can't go that long without my fishies.)

Goto to a fish shop, ask for a big poly box or two (or 3-4!).

These do take up some space though, they should be totaly water tight though, fill it one third full and place some fish in it now you can use packing tap to seal the lid.

This should help to keep the heat in (which a large tupperware thing will not) and with plenty of space for air should have enough oxygen.

If you can get breatherable bags (ebay) you can put a single fish in a bag with 1 drop of ammolock and saflt travel the fish for 5-7 days in a bag.

This is how some fish collectores ship their fish as these bas allow oxygem through the lineing of the bad and releases co2.

Very cool stuff...

I would withhold feeding for 24-36 hours, and bag them using 1/3 water, 2/3 air. Place the bags in a styro with a heat pack, keep the lid on, & drive straight through. Southern Florida is a 24 hour drive from Chicago, add a few hours since you are in Michigan. Your fish will do fine for 24 hours bagged, as long as you don't feed them. No food means no waste, less ammonia.

With 2 people driving a 24 hour drive is a piece of cake. I've done it alone before on short notice, that's a little rough.
