is reserved for small children who disturb you with pointless requests just as you are in the process of netting an already stressed fish, making you lose concentration and let the fish escape. The platy is now sitting shivering in the plants- and if I were not such a wonderfully restrained parent, that is where my son would be joining him. Anyone feel like adopting a sweet six-year-old boy with snot smeared all over his face? No, I thought not. :grr:

I have a beautiful retirement home waiting for my bullied platy boy, a comfortably cycled planted tank, with a nice view of 7 lovely ladies (tank divider). But I'll never get him into it now.

you could add more males this would solve the problem

What? more sons???!!! Dream on!

Oh, I see...you meant more FISH.

Yes, I know, but tank is pretty fully stocked; besides, the bully has been joining up with one hanger-on to pick off his brothers one by one. Maybe if I brought in several bigger platies, but tbh I've never seen a bigger male platy; he's pretty monstrous. One of my homegrown babies, I remember when he was a cute little thing.

6 is such a wonderful age so full of questions. They grow up so fast. Mine are 8, 16, and 23 and let me tell you the questions just get harder . Try explaining to your 8 year old daughter why she can't have "Gary" over for a sleepover or your 16 year old can't borrow the car because you need it.Beleive me a 16 year old can whine and pout just as well as any 8 year old. For that matter an adult child can be just as bad when his sweet baby sister puts a garter snake in his undie drawer and it winds up in the socks he was going to put on. Enjoy your little one and remember it will only get worse (LOL). I threaten mine with behave or I'll move in with YOU when I get old.

Awww beast! The bully not your son. Although..... ;)
Worst thing my son ever did was tip half a bottle of apricot kernal oil in my 15g. :X Oh man that was not a fun time.
Oh hell no that's not the worst he's ever done!! He smashed one of my betta tanks last year sending glass, water and fish across the living room floor. Poor fish I finally found almost behind my 35g underneath the tv wires. He survived it with no ill effects thankfully....both the fish and my son. ;) Not one I've really forgiven him for entirely since I was in the bath at the time and spent 15 minutes scrabbling around the floor butt naked looking for that fish, getting cut up by the shattered glass and lifting units there's no way I should be able to move. :X
