I still have a lot to do around the farm, but I actually have no need to go to town today, and I got to sleep an extra 1/2 hour later this morning... soon I'll adjust my sun rise lighting, on my tanks in the room I sleep in, so the fish can sleep in an extra hour... 1st lights come on at 5:30 am... no need for that anymore, at least on a daily basis...

so, 1st job of the day, is water changes all around. as they are past due, and just because I can

Full retirement is better. I assume that is not possible to do if one has a farm where any part of it is still engaged in any farming efforts. Crops must be tended and animals fed and generally taken care of as long as one has them.

When I became seriously involved keeping fish I gave up my gardening outside. It moved into glass boxes.

I'm actually a kind of retiree myself. I've since been declared unfit for work due to my physical problems. They thought I was dragging it out quite a bit to be allowed to continue working. I'm not one to sit still. But okay, I also have to be realistic and accept my limitations. So, I do have a lot of time now, and a certain amount of which is taken up by the hospital.

Congrats! Believe it or not, I just retired after 47 years as a Buyer at a Petfood Manufacturing Plant last FRIDAY January 2nd……. It will take adjustments! I’m still getting up at 3:30 am, hopefully this will change for us.. Enjoy!

I retired in 2021 but returned part time for some extra income. I loved full retirement. Now I’m remembering why I retired fully in 2021. It became insufferable at the end. This will be my last year of part time work. The money was used to jump start my children into full independence. In 2027 they will sink or swim without my financial support.

I'm four years in, after a slightly early retirement to care for a family member with chemo during the pandemic. I didn't follow any of my carefully planned steps. Once the worst of the dangers had passed, I worked part time for a bit.

This morning, I was up at 5:35 in the morning, my get up for work time for decades. The internal clock won't stop. I had dreams of self indulgent sleep ins til 6:30 or even 7 (I had to be realistic - no teenaged Saturday mornings for me), but I can't often do that. Not 5:34 or 36. The timer in my brain will not retire. I hope you do better with that.

Since I wake up every morning at 5:35, my dog has noted this and wakes me up if I try to go back to sleep. Her internal clock is as good as mine. Good luck.

even without resetting my sunrise aquarium timers, they start coming on at 5:00, I still somehow slept until 7:00 this morning... more likely related to exhaustion, than lack of light sensitivity... and even light sensitivity is likely not the real problem, it's having to get up to go to the bathroom, once the lights are on, seems to be the trigger to start the day...

Well, my internal clock used to be like that as well after I've stopped working. But the past few weeks that internal clock is gone. But that's got to do with my meds and the progression of my illnesses.
