I'm trying a few small pieces of tinted plexiglass, for use in my aquariums... my 1st perceived use, is as shade for some plants like anubias that grow slower than algae... in a couple of my river flowing type tanks, anubias are typically a plant that can handle the flow... in one tank my anubias is down stream, and I use floating plants to offer it some shade, and after trying several types, of floaters, that didn't like the high flow , what I have now, is working well for that tank, I want to use the plexi on another similar tank, the anubias are going up stream, where floating plants would get washed away... I've tried using baffles to hold the floaters in place, but that becomes a hassle with fluctuation in water levels... but I think a small piece of tinted plexiglass will offer the needed shade from my bright lights I use to grow my terrestrial plants

I found a 2nd use as covers over my hang on back filters... all my tanks have the lights mounted from 6 to 18 inches above my tanks, and while the Tidal's are made of black plastic, and the filter components are algae free, the discharge area is exposed to full light, I just want to make sure I'm not getting a bacterial slime growing in the discharge waterfall, so I'm going to lay a piece over the tops of the filters to shade them, and see if that reduces what is growing on them, with high light above them...

that's my uses for now, I have 4 pieces coming that are 12 inches, by 8 inches, and a new, extra large Congensis, to try my new shading technique on...
