Hey (its me again)

After my Fin Rot, White Spot and now THIS! in a week im getting overly worried about everything, so i wanted to check with you guys to see if anything was wrong,

Yesterday the tank was fine but now ive got an issue ive got thin white strands hanging of the tank wall, they look like string and only occur in the middle part of the wall, are they anything to worry about and should i wipe them off, i removed my carbon sponge when i put the meds in but im going to put it back now, the string like creatures are white and very very thin, and there is hundreds of them, they only go out from the wall about a 0.5-1cm,

The water could also be slightly cloudy, i have 6corys and 6 neon tetras,

Thanks

Sounds like hair algae. The tank is getting too much light. The water is getting cloudy as the tank is cycling. Tank lights should not be on more than 8-9 hours a day.

I would also say remove the carbon sponge, i have heard they only last for 3 days, so are not worth it, you will have to keep buying new ones.
I have carbon in my filter, but didnt know of this and it has now got a family of beneficial bacteria all over it, so if i remove it now it will cause a spike in my tank.

EDIT: read your other topics, your tank has only been running a month, so i would'nt hold much hope for the neon tetras, they need a mature tank around 6 months mature. Dont buy anymore until this time. :)

Its strange the people at the fish shop told me they were great too start off with, and they seen very happy, it was the betta who died

Is it planaria that's on the tank?

Agreed about the neons. What kind of cories do you have? I think I read that they need a mature tank, as well. I have four pygmy ones in my tank and it's not mature (it's been set up for 3 months) and they're still alive even after one accidently feel down the drain and I had to reach my hand down and pull it out, another got sucked up in a sypon and yet another almost got pulled into the filter uptake. They seem hardy. lol

You should never believe what employees of petstores tell you.
The more fish that die, the more you will come back to buy some more = MORE MONEY!
:S

well some are ok, but most aren't, you should just do alot of research yourself! :)

NOTHING the people at the fish store have told me is right! I've had to return a few kinds of fish because of that! It's important to read up and figure out what will work for your tank. My lastest mistake was putting the pygmies in a tank with smooth gravel instead of sand. I should have read up on them more!

Another was taking their word for it that my bettas do not need heaters. One was nearly dieing and I put a dose of quick cure and a heater in his 2-gallon bowl and now he's totally active and happy.

Well all my fish are fine, i wiped off the strands and they never came back,

Ive got

1. Panda Cory
2. 2 Pepered
3. 2 Bronze

Are petstore gives you free fish if your fish dies within a month, (pets a home)

Thanks again,
