They look to be about a half inch in diameter. And in the last picture, at the center of the big web is one of them too; so tiny.

They are spiny back orbweavers. I found this page about spiders, http://insects.tamu.edu/extension/bulletins/l-1787.html.

The spinybacked orbweaver, Gasteracantha cancriformis, is another distinctive orbweaver common in wooded areas. The unusual flattened, spiny body shape makes it look like a crab. Abdomen colors include white, yellow, orange or red. Orbweavers are generally harmless but can be a nuisance when they build large webs in places inconvenient for humans.
haha, so that's the only problem is that their webs are inconvenient. Such little spiders making such big webs; what workers.

They are way cool, I haven't seen them before. I love the smiley faces on their backs!

Jewelled Spiders!! Great photos, :good: , I live in Georgia and these are all over the place. I dont see the orange ones too often, but the white ones are very common. Thanks for sharing. I am sure Moray will get a kick out of these......

they are lovely, we don't have anything like them in England - Their abdomen really are great, interesting and funny looking (well they make me smile anyway). And their webs are stunning. Great stuff :D

Aw they are cute! Suzie - yeah, I noticed the cute little smiles on their backs too!

lol, I thought they were fake until I looked at your posts. It looked like holloween cookies in a small version. Or maybe im just hungry. :D .Nice peekchures, these spiders are way less scary then the hairy big ones with the long legs...
