The One Most Important Decision I Have To Make

Ok heres whats going on, i currently have a cycling 30 gallon and ive been posting everywhere to see if i could get cichlids with tiger barbs and its just not going to work.

So now i have a very important decision to make.

Do i go with a community tank with or with a cichlid tank?

My goal for my tank is to have something in it i can watch for hours and be entertained and grow attached to.
I really wanna know what fish im getting

This is where everyone who reads this needs to help,
Community or Cichlid? and what fish should i get?

keep in mind i will be getting a bigger tank probably a 60 or 70 gallon something around there in about 2 months if all goes well and my parents see i really know what im doing.

IMHO community (this is the way I went).

Cichlids, although many are very "pretty", are "mean little devils".

In a 30G you could have 5 cories, some "pretty" platties and three "yoyo's".

cichlids, mean yes.

but BOAT LOADS of fun. IMO.

i would say cichlids.

Taking equipment etc. out of the picture and going on purely a matter of taste, only you can decide.

You say cichlids, there's massive choice out there, just as there is "community". Some cichlids can be kept in the community no problem.

If you're finding it hard to decide then take a look around the web. See what takes your fancy and go from there. Member's pics may be a good start.

Cichlids generally are more personable, I reckon, although the African types are pretty mean to each other!!!
You could keep some of the New World cichlids in a community tank.
To be honest, I reckon the best thing to do is look at pictures etc of other set ups and see what you reckon. It's kind of a nice dilemma to ahve really!
