I have had this tank for 8 months (see profile). In the last 6 weeks or so, I have been losing about 1 fish per week, all neons except for 1 red minor. The Stats are as follows:

PH 7.2
Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
KH 6
GH 14

I do not know why the Ammonia level has risen (it usually is 0) other than I had trimmed and removed some plants that had overgrown the tank.

The only change that I can see is that the GH is a lot higher than 8 which is normal.

I see no obvious signs of any disease.

I have read about neon tetra disease, but have not observed anything that would indicate this.

Fish seem to be OK at bedtime, but will find dead fish in morning.

Any suggestions?

Going by your profile, you have all tetras, ore so, so it's not like fish are getting attacked at night.
therefore, chances are that it's your water quality.

The ammonia thing is strange... have you replaced a cartridge or washed the cartridge(s) or other media in tap water? If so, the bacteria migth have ended up dying.
