tetra initial sticks

Hello everybody, im looking into purchasing a box of tetra initial sticks with a catch, my aquariums already set up with fish swimming in it would it be okay if i deviated from the intructions of the initials sticks ( which sais to mix it up first with the gravel before adding fishies ) by inserting it into the gravel ? just like placing plants only im placing in bits and pieces of the initial sticks ? will it kill my fish ?

It won't kill your fish but it will make one helluva mess, and won't give you the benefit of the sticks, which is to make your plain gravel substrate into something more fertile. I think you would be better off getting the Flourish root tabs if you want to spot fertilize.
