Just out of curiosity I've just tested:-

a. Tap water with conditioner added,
b. RO Water straight from the container,
c. The tank water.

All 3 are showing exactly the same pH values (I'd been suspicious as I couldn't match my tank's ph colour to the charts - and I know RO should be bang on 7)

The worst part.... the colour ( a 'nice' bright pink) doesn't match any of the colour patterns for the results.

Time to go find another test kit.

Edited as b ) (without the space) becomes a smiley ;)

any brand of test strip is only good as a quick guide.
if it is acuracy that you are after then you need a liqued test kit.
look out for APIs Freshwater master kit
it does
pH
pH broad range
Ammonia
Nitrite (NO2)
Nitrate (NO3)

by far the best value for money, IMO.

I know.... trying to persuade the Officer-In-Charge (the wife ;)) that we need a better kit - hopefully showing her the three and asking her to pick out the neutral one will do the trick...

Going to go and get one when we go shopping.
