Hi guys,
Just recently got a new tank with heater etc. thing is, my old tank had an automatic thermostat, with the new one i have to adjust it manually.
Now, in my new tank i have :
5 Angel Fish
5 Black Phantom Tetra
5 Neon Tetra
2 Dwarf Gourami
1 Sailfin Plec

What temperature would you recommend?

Many thanks.

hey welcome to TTF first off,

i would reccommend about 26 c

BTW i hope you have a big tank....?

:good:

how big is your tank??
2 i keep my tank at 26 c 78f

I have a 96litre tank.
I also have a smaller tank holding the small fishes :D.

How many fishes can i get in a 96litre roughly?

depends on the size of ur fish. i've been told 1in per 1 gallon. but i'm not sure how that converts to liters and such

96 litres is just over 25 US gallons so you can have 25 adult inches of fish in there. Each angel needs about 10 US gallons eventually as they grow massive, so that's 50. Your 10 tetras are 10 inches in total evetually so that's about 10 US gallons. So 60 gallons in total. Your sailfin plec can reach up to 18 inches when fully grown so that's 78 gallons needed + another 2 inches for yoour gouramis. So all in all you need around an 80 US gallon tank (300 litres). Ideally a little bigger to house your fish once theyre all fully grown.

Id say youre a little overstocked

See what others say but Id say you need to do the following.

1. Take back the plec. It'll get enormous and absolutely destroy your tank.
2. Take back the angels as your tank is far too small for them and once they pair up you'll get an aggression massacre + they eat tetras once theyre bigger.
3. Fill out out your schools of tetras a little.
4. Find a small schooling catfish species for the bottom of your tank.
5. Don't go over 25 adult inches of fish. Overstocking nearly always leads to poor water quality and deaths.

Good luck

another option you might consider is letting your angels pair off. Then return all but one pair of angels. You should definitly take back the sailfin plec though. He gets huge. BTW do you now what a cycle is?

I agree, I dont like plecs unless you have a BIG tank, and the amount of angels you have is WAY too many for your tank. I would by a 75g and put the fish you have in that, if you can afford the cost and space. I think having 0.5 inches of fish per gallon is a good idea....and angels need even more space and dont like being "stressed" out by fast moving fish....
