Recently, I've had a guppy die from what I now suspect to be parasites. I noticed he wasn't eating and had white-ish translucent poo. Now I've noticed that at least two other guppies are having these symptoms, though they're still active and eating, so I started treating for internal parasites yesterday with Prazipro. Today, I found this creepy looking thing at the bottom of the tank.

I'm guessing that's a tapeworm..? What's a good way of getting rid of these things entirely?

Whatever it is tkae it out a pour a half pound of salt on it! No seriously  take it out and pour salt on it and get some kosher salt or aquarium salt for the fish tank.

Ugh, it's so nasty that I don't even know how to get rid of it, lol. I believe it's already dead since it's outside, but still.

Well if it moves then it's alive, just get some internal, external parasitic medication and add some salt, I think it's 1 tbs per gallon. Or is it 1 tsp?

Yes, that is a tapeworm, usually they come out when the host is still alive. It most likely is still alive. Beware, because these little buggers reproduce faster than anything, they are asexual and hard to kill. You should burn it in a fireplace or something not used for cooking.

I forgot to mention that they sometimes break segments off, so the head is still possibly in there.

Well, it was in that same place for hours, so I assumed it was dead. It seemed to be dead when I removed it from the tank earlier. Shouldn't it be dead from the medication I added though?

Yes it may well be dead which is why it fell away from the fish. Remove any that you see though.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I think these guppies (or at least 1-2 of them) may have already been infected with these parasites when they were at the fish store, since I've only had them for over a month.
