I am planning on re scaping my tank. I am going to use sand instead of gravel and get some rocks and have it marine lookalike.

My question is I have a 10 gallon spare tank in my garage. As the change would take a good few hours and whle i waited for all the sand to settle and the water to get up to temp. Would i be ok to put all my fish into my 10G as a temporary messure and keep them up there for upto about 12 hours. My current stock is:

2 small angels
2 small rusty plecs
1 bulldog plec
5 neons
3 dwarf gouramis
and a few guppies and platys

Also i have 2 external filters running atm should i just transfer one of these over to the 10g while there in there? And leave the other one full of water.

Cheers

I would transfer your fish and 1 of your externals and a heater to the 10 gallon while you re-scape your main tank.

That would be fine, but can I make a suggestion? Get a large Rubbermaid container for the fish. That way they have more room(especially the gourami's, they can get aggressive in small spaces) and you can keep more water. This will also allow you the fish to fit comfortably in the space if it takes more than a few hours.
