Hi Everyone!!

OK, so I have 2 tanks and 2 filters in each tank. I got another tank today with a built in filter. I really don't want to wait for it to cycle, so i'm considering 'cloning' one of my other mature filters. What I want to know is how long does the mature, established filter need to run in the new tank alongside the new filter for it to become cycled and mature??

Any help is appreciated.

Many THANKS

i have done the same when i got my new tank

basically....... all you need to do is use some of the filter media from one, or both. (brobably best with both of them) and put that in the filter of your new tank. give it some time to transfer to the new media and your done!!!. i also used and old nlyon and filled it with some gravel from one of my already established tanks to help the prosess along

as for timeing... once you put in the other filter media it should be good to go.... you "could" put a few tough fish in (i did this with my dojo loaches) and they will be fine. but as for sensitive fish (such as an angel or something) i would wait for a little while and make sure everything goes well with your levels and tank stats.

Cloning tanks are relativley easy but be careful to watch those levels and all will go great !

good luck,
