Tall Tank

We have a space where we would like to put another tank but we are considering a tall one, I would say it will be 4ft across 2ft deep and 4ft high. the idea is to home a variety of tropicals but we may go down the marine route, we're undecided at the moment. Question is though; is a 4ft tall tank too tall? We are thinking along the lines of undergravel with the inlets at the top so a reasonable flow but downwards - is that silly?

Just make sure you have lots of surface agitation and a tall tank is fine.

I don't know sod all about marine set-ups, but I think there may an issue with the light due to the height. Seem to remember reading something about that. So might be worth looking up if you are still considering the marine route.
