i recently spawned some corydoras catfish and notice one with a sword type tail.

It looks like the fin growth control genes are defective. It's a longfin to begin with, but that growth is wild. If you get into linebreeding, swordtail corys would be a money fish, said the wild form purist.
 
Others may have seen different mutations, but I've seen long finned corys get almost wrapped in their fins. They're long lived and the fins never stop growing. Since their fins are coarse, the fish can get into trouble. I've seen long finned paleatum get really messed up.

If it's just the tail shape genetics that have malfunctioned, then maybe that would make you rich and we can all say we knew you back in the day. Remember us!
