Hi, bought some sword plants about 2 weeks ago. My bottom is gravel in my tank and some of the plants are in the gravel, others are anchored under a large piece of mopani.

The plants have alot of brown spots showing up on their leaves. I do have a bristlenose catfish and one otto cat in there. I also have Java Fern which has been in there for quite some time and a fountain plant also.

What can i do to help these plants?

My lights are a regular warm flourescent

What size is your fish tank and how many watts is the light bulb? The most common plant troubles stem (no pun intended!) from not enough light. The Oto and Bristlenose shouldn't bother the plants at all, other than to eat algae off of them.

Okay, I posted a pic below of one of the leaves. The tank is a 25 gal, 18 watt cool white bulb. I cannot put anything higher it says than 18 watt. But there are plant bulbs for aquariums would this be better?

It seems odd, my Java Fern is doing fine, maybe these plants have a disease. Even the baby plants that are coming out have this brownish tinge to them but loads of roots.
