Having been away for a week, I returned home to discover my small 60lt tank water was full of what I can only describe as small white 3mm long hairs. These were on the glass, ornaments and free floating in the water!! Is this planaria worms?
My dad had been feeding the fish and I can only assume this is some sort of bacterial bloom from rotten uneaten food in the tank due to overfeeding. I have performed 2 major water changes yesterday and removed all ornaments along with quite a bit of the substrate.
I will probably be perfoming another big water change tonight when I get back from work.
Could anybody help with the following questions;
1. What the hell is this?
2. How do I combat the affects?
3. Should I decommission the tank and give it a thorough clean, prior to re-using it or can I revive the tank and maintain the stock.
i have not had chance to test the water parameters yet but will be doing so this evening after another water change.
Hope somebody can assist.
