One of my female guppies has started to hang around the outside of the filter, the "strainer"bit, not where the fresh water comes out, she's been doing it for the last couple of days.
Anyone got any ideas why? Water stats are normal, and she's the only one doing it. When I turned the filter off during a water change this morning, she swam off normally, and she's eating fine.
Only thing I could think of, she is very pregnant, so unless she wants the fry to swim inside the filter? (juwel internal)??

Does the spot where she is hiding have a low flow rate, if so it is likely that she is just tired out from being pregnant and she wnats to get away from the world and relax without stressing herself swimming.

What is the male : female ratio, if there are more males they might be harassing her
i think it would be useful to post this again in the livebearers section

:good:

If she is pregnant I would try to separate her so that she is not to stressed and can relax, especially if you have more males then females in your tank.

Thanks for your replies, I've copied this to livebearers..

I think the place where she is staying does have a low flow rate, though I've wondered if maybe the filter actually sucks water into it? Actually, she's moved round to the other start of the filter this morning, where the water flows out.

Male to female ratio, from my original fish, there are 2 males 2 females, but I also have lots of younger fish, around 6 months old, a couple seem to be pregnant, I think there are more femsles than males, though its a bit difficult to distinguish.
