So, I know I have come in with tails of dying fish, and level issues buttttttttttttttt I think I finally got things under control, my levels look good ph 7.0, Ammonia 0, Nitrite .05, and Nitrate 1.0 and the fish seem happy and are acting pretty nomal, I have begun to think about what should I stock next. My tank is a 20 gal 24"x16"x12" I have 1 male red wag tail platy, 3 female sunburst platies, 1 female mickey mouse platy, and 5 neon tetras ( sex unknown) I currantly have fake plants but have considered geting some live one instead ( don't know the ups or downs to that yet). The tank has a buble maker which makes for a nice cross current ( the fish love swimming with the currant). The platies are all about as big as they will get, and I think the tetras are as well, using the 1" per gallon rule I have 15" of fish now, which means I could get a couple of 2.5 inch fish or a small school 5 or so 1" like the tetras. I would like something that would stand out to what's in there now and I also had a question about is there such thing as freshwater shrimp or snails and do they add to the total equation.

things I have been thinking about ( I listed the amounts as if I just got that one kind of fish)

Black Phantom Tetra most like 4 or 5
Diamond Tetra most like 2
Dwarf Gourami most like 2 or 3
Honey Gourami most likely 2 or 3
Moonlight Gourami 2 or 3
Red Tail Shark 1

So any other seggustions, or what do you guys think?

Moonlight Gouramis grow to 6" and they do it within about 18 months, so you can probably rule those out. I've had mine around 9 months and he is knocking on for 5".

The red tail shark will probably make lunch out of your neons when he gets too big too.. just something to bear in mind. :0

Diamond Tetras are lovely, and 3 together would probably be great:) I'd love some of those, but I'm running out of space! lol

Yea I really like the Diamonds, and they would stand out nicely but I can't find them for sale anywhere
