ok , so heres what i would like to put in my 20 gal

1 plec
3-6 bronze cories
1 pair of kribs
3-6 columbian tetras < if i can ever find an lfs who stocks them again >

sound overstocked? , im undecided. its a sand substrate , with caves and real plants

all sounds good except the plec.


not sure theres one that wouldnt outgrow a 20 but i dont kno my plecs that well.



if not then you might be better with a group of ottos or something.

SamUK is right I wouldn't put a plec because lots of fish stores tols me that they werent all that great for community tanks. I have a 20 gallon myself and I wanted a plec in there.

it all depends on what sort of plec you have and what size it is at the mo.

If its a BN pleco you'll be fine

the lfs sold it with bns ,and recently , i noticed small , little bristles at the end of its face , so i guess its a female bn , too bad i named it a boys name , ooooooh well , too late now

If they are BN's then they should be ok, they dont get big maybee 6 inches max but I think its more like 4 inches.

oops . i thought they maxxed out at 8".

the male tends to have alot more bristley things on its nose I think. And the female will have less or even none at all. I think the male also has bits on the side of his forehead aswell.....


The pic is off google its not my own, (male). mine only come out at night . The bristles can vary in size though and also in the amount, some bristles can branch off aswell I think.
