Hi guys,

I have just bought 4 new emperor tetras for my Rekord 96. I was thinking about getting some other fish too in the future, but realised I am probably at my limit stocking wise.
What does everyone think?

Rekord 96 = around 21 UK Gal

I have 1 BN Plec, 1 Dwarf Gourami, 2 Blue Ram, 3 Otto, 4 Emperor Tetra. That is about 23 inches of fish in adult size. The thing is, when looking at my tank. It looks really empty as BN Plec hides a lot, Ottos generally suck on the glass, plants and wood etc. The Rams usually stick to their area in the plants and Gourami and Tetras just roam around the tank.

I wouldnt mind some cardinals or rummy nose tetras in the future, but if its full its full. It just doesnt look full.

What do you think?? Thanks

You might be able to get away with a small shoal of cardinals as long as your filtration etc is up to scratch. Maybe 4-6?

i thought so. thats nearly 6 inches gained back. I think a small shoal of tetras might be ok. The Juwel filtration isnt that bad, and I do weekly vac and water changes.

You should be fine to add another active shoal, maybe some guppies. Things like ottos and shrimp dont give off alot of waste, so there isnt any point in including them in the 1" of fish per gallon rule

As connersbala said there is little point in including ottos and such like in the IPG rule. So a shoal of 6 small fish would be ideal.

Have you thought about Harlequin Rasboras?

My initial thought was to maybe increase the number of Emperor Tetras before you think about anything else...

Normally tetras like being kept in groups of 6+
