I currently have:
6 phantom tetras
2 panda cories
3 'white' neons
6 black kuhli loaches
3 praecox rainbows
2 marbled hatchetfish

I want to change it up a little and I want something a little more active than my tetras.
The only thing that I definately want is Chain loaches. I guess about 6-8. After that I'm not totally sure.
I think I might keep the kuhlies. Or if I don't I will get a smallish pleco. So then just one last type of fish for the top.

Ideas:
Zebra Danio
Tiger Barbs
Giant Danio
Dwarf Puffer
African Butterflyfish

Any ideas or opinions? Keep in mind I don't want fish that will just sit around (except the butterflyfish if that is compatible - those things are awesome!). I want something that will be moving!

well it sounds alright to me except for the dwarf puffer, i have been researching them lately and well they really shouldnt be kept with anything other than other DP's.

What sounds alright? Maybe you misunderstood... I'm not going to put ALL of those fish in there.

And I was wondering about the dwarf puffer:
1. most fish don't bother kuhlies and since they are bottom dwelling anyway I thought it might work...
2. Dwarf loaches get bigger than the puffers and they are semi aggressive...

So I thought it might work... but I"ve never kept DPs or Dwarf loaches so i wasn't sure...?

oh sorry i thought you meant that was your new stocking list lol

as for tiger barbs and the african butterfly i have no experience with them so i am not sure, i think the butterflies are predators though so if you have any small fish it might eat them but i am not sure.

i like danios, if you can get your hands on some glowlight danios, they are really cool. very fast and mine are always zipping around the tank after each other.

as for DP's from what i have read very few people have had success with keeping them in a community tank and even though they are small they can take out fish a lot bigger than them just from their constant pecking and bothering.
and the only fish i have seen recomended to go with them is ottos.

i plan on getting two DP's and two or three ottos for a 10g setup after christmas, till then all i really know is what i have read on them, there are some good stickies on them in the oddballs section.

I would stay away from giant danio's, they swim lighting fast around the tamk, frightening the other fish, and tend to pick on other fish.
