Hey guys,

Need a little help with some stocking!

I have a 165lt tank, its been set up and running for 6 months or so and all is going well!

I have 5 congo tetra, 3 swordtails, 3 dwarf gourami and 2 peacock spiny eels.

I would really like some corys, would they be ok? If so how many could i have?

Thanks.

Alison

165 L is what, about 40 gal?
I'm not sure about your Peacock eals, I've never tries eals before, but as far as the other fish are concerned, with the amount of space to fish ratio you have enough room for cory's. I recommend getting a group of five at least (Get them all of the same species/color type - such as Panda, they like to school)

I would wait for someone who has experience with eels to reply in regards to those fish, but the others should all be fine :)

Hopefully you have a sand substrate at the eels like to bury themselves, just leaving their heads exposed, they get to about 15cm. Corys are great, as mentioned, are best kept in a group, again with a sand as gravel damages their barbles/whiskers. I think the other fish should be ok, although they will eat small fish.
good luck.

Ahh thanks for the quick reply!

My eels are pretty laid back, never even went for my stupid fry that swam in front of their noses, (dont worry all fry have now been rescued), cant imagine they would bother any corys!

Am I able to mix the different species? I quite fancy a few pandas and albinos!

My tank is half gravel, the small gravel, not the large sharp pieces, and sand.

My eels do love to bury themselves, and get into lots of strange places! So far ive managed to find one of them with their head under the snail trp, lying looking out! If i hadnt seen his eye i would never have known he was there! I love them, so laid back and super cute!
