I currently have an empty 240l tank and this is my first 'big' tank. It has a Fluval 307 external filter. It will be well planted with live plants
My current stocking idea is: 1 x red tail shark, 5 x dwarf gourami and 6 X diamond tetras.
Please could I get your thoughts and advice on if this is an appropriate set-up, things I should change etc etc. I have already narrowed this down from a shortlist of fish I am interested in which included blue rams, Kribensis and black neon tetras but I'm trying not to overstock and keep the tank harmonious (hopefully). For reference the tank measurements are: 120cm (L) x 40cm(W) x 50cm (H).
Edit to add: I will be fully cycling this tank before any fish are added!

Stating the obvious but have you checked the fish are suitable tank mates?

Also the ideal parameters for the fish?

PH and temp are fine for all 3. I haven't checked the GH and KH for all 3 yet so I will do that. As far as I've read, they should be ok together as long as the red tail shark keeps to himself. I know I need caves for him to hide in. And I'm planning to plant up the tank in order to break the line of sight and provide cover in case any of the Gouramis or Diamonds take a dislike to an individual. However I would be interested to learn from anyone who has kept these species, what their personal experience has been as I know what I read online about temperament may not always be how it plays out in reality.

Looking at AI ( not that I'm a fan) the Pearl Gourami may be better with the shark.
