I have a 20 gallon planted aquarium, and I'm wondering how many fish I can have in it. After the tank was cycled, I put in 4 otocats and 3 panda cory catfish (I didn't want to put too many fish in at once, in case I got an ammonia spike). The fish have been in the tank for about 2 weeks, and they seem healthy, and the ammonia/ nitrates have remained at 0. I'm now looking into fully stocking the tank.
I want to get 2-3 more panda cory catfish, and then a dwarf gourami as a centerpiece fish. I'm thinking about also adding a pair of clown kilifish, if I can find them. For the remaining fish, I think I just want neon tetras. How many neons could I have, considering the other fish I have/ will have?
In short, if I have 4 otocats, 5-6 corydoras, 1 dwarf gourami, and (possibly) a pair of clown kilifish, how many neon tetras should I get?
One of my family members would also like to have a guppy in the tank. I don't want to get a group of males and females just because of how prolific they are, and I don't like the idea of just having a group of males, because I've read that they can be aggressive toward eachother. Could I just have one male guppy? Or would he be sad?
