I have had my stingray for 3 months now, and i cant get him to accept anything but black worms. While he has gotten bigger, he's pretty skinny. I've tried earthworms, bloodworms, live feeder goldfish, squid, clams, and even pellets. He just wants black worms, any ideas on getting him to accept anything else? Also I just got a baby teacup from my friend, and it wont eat at all. It also has a fungal infection on the tip of its tail. Help!! tanksize: 125 gallons(soon to be upsized to a 350, once i save enough money) Big ray: 4" disk, baby teacup:2" disk. Water: ammonia=0ppm, nitrite:0ppm, my nitrate level is a little high but i did a water change and lowered it majorly. any advice?

1st ray
try soaking some prawns in blackworm blood overnight
it may take a while but it will get used to the new textured food
2nd ray
treat with ray friendly fungus med(not sure what that is in the states)and keep offering live foods
what temp is the tank set at?it should be around 84 with plenty of aeriation
good luck

The larger ray is doing fine now, hes eating and resuming his daily routine of slowly cruising the bottom. The small ray however has not eaten at all, even when the food is directly in front of him. He also has bite marks all over him and looks beat up. In an effort to improve water quality i added another filter to the tank and some more airstones, but no improvement for the small ray. Idk what to do, i payed $70 for the thing losing it would be wasting a good amount of money.

oh and i also raised the temp to 84 and the fungus appears to be gone

the small ray needs to seperated from whatever is biting it
the bullying could well be why its not eating

hmm well the rays are in a tank with 1 large angelfish, 1 pictus catfish, a yellow lab cichlid, 1 firemouth, a banded leporinus, and a large clown loach, and 3 large striped barbs. ive never seen any of these fish fight or bite each other. any ideas?

Get the Leporinus out now, they are infamous for biting rays and even removing their eyes.

i agree those fish are nasty
watch the tank after you turned the lights out and you will find your culprit

I have been watching it closely and it still doesnt act agressive, it kinda just keeps to itself. But i will get rid of it, i just dont know how, my lfs doesnt want it but i was thinking about putting it on ebay.

leporinus will eat / attack at night, hours after you have turned out the lights and not been seen for a while. they can be nasty peices of work.

I really don't think it mattered all that much. The ray wasn't going to eat no matter what I did. The store I bought it from probably sold it sick. The ray showed no interest in any type of food
