I am thinking about getting the Eclipse Explorer just as my first tank and plan on getting a bigger one around christmas like a 20-29 gallon. Do you think this is a good starting tank and if not let me know of any others. Also take into consideration that i only have like 30 dollars to spend on the tank lol im only 17 with no job.

To be honest, fish keeping is not a hobby for people with no money. It's a very, very expensive hobby, although there are things you can do to save money.

I recommend you get a small tank with a built-in filter and get a betta. That shouldn't set you back too much money and would be an introduction to fish-keeping that isn't likely to get too expensive.

Money really isnt an issue for my family but it is for me lol. See we had to do a fish and plant ecosystem in biology and that made me want to get an aquarium. I asked my parents if i could get one and they said maybe they would get me one for christmas. Its still a long time from christmas and i want fish NOW lol so i just got all my money together and i only have enough for that Explorer. I was thinking of putting in a few life plants and maybe 2-3 fish. By the way thanks for the help Alien

those eclipse tanks are really nice!!!!!!i agree with alien anna get yourself a betta.......they're really great start out fish and then by christmas(if u save your nickels) u could get a bigger one!!!! look out for fish sales and garage sales....but get a betta.......they rule

Oh sure, it starts out harmless enough. A small tank and filter a few fish, maybe a couple of plants. And then bang, the bug bites in a big way and just like a drug, you want more...more...better...more....more I say, hey where,s my wallett gone!

I have all the effects of multiple tank syndrome but with only 1 fully functional tank! Admittedly it's a 400 litre tank and it takes up all the available room in my house. I do have a 20 litre hospital tank but that only comes out if needed. My problem is that I want a RO system but have nowhere to put it. Probably wont stop me getting one though!
