STARTED IN NEWBIE - help wanted on new tank

the tank is only about a week old, treated water, PH reading's are saying the tank is in good shape, I don't over feed the water temp as I said before is 78 degrees and I only keep the light on at night

Well it seems u have rushed into it! The tank should have been left to 'cycle' or only 1 or 2 fish added untill the cycle has finished. U should probably do about 30-40% water change, make sure u add deshlorinator to the water. I recommend u buy a nitrAte and nitrIte test kit. What exact pH reading do u have ?

Add an Ammonia test to that.

o geez, my ph reading is about 7.5. I was told that the cycle was not needed if I put the right conditioner in and kept the water att he right temp for 2 days before I put fish in. didn't know ....first time with fish I read up on cycyling and was told by someone who i thought was a reliable source to not worry about it.....

Well it sunds like u have one of them pet shops that are just interested in making money!

Do not add any more fish yet, and get that water change done. Thats about all u can do for now.

Can u describe the other fish u have, depending on what they are, the tank maybe overstocked.

two pink iredescent fish small look kinda like a gold fish but thinner and smaller about an 1/2 inch in length

a small dark orange fish with black fins long kinda like a blunt nose sword fish - just the elongated body length.

another silver iredscent fish with black fins, the dorsal fin almost resembles a shark fin.

a small fish almost like a tetra a little bigger though

and a catfish

What exactly do u mean by the word iredescent ?

hey hey....go easy on me scaring me completely out of having fish....seriously though...most of the tanks didn't have names on them, the fact that I picked a few names out and got them completely right or almost right is pretty good....looking through 1,000's (lietrally) of pictures to find out what fish I really have....it's hard and time consuming but I'm doing it considering I've only had the tank a week!

as far as the black finned fished - almost like that...but smaller almost like a glass fish body - by meaning more rounded

the pink fish almost - but then again it could be because all my fish are small they mite not have grown into their features yet

First off, don't expect replies immediately we all have jobs to do and just attend this board in our free time.

Secondly is this the sword fish with elongated tail you described

note the colour may be different but is that the shape if it is then you've got a swordtail.
