I am new to this site.  I have found some very good info on what is going on with my dwarf gourami but the info I haven't found is what to do now that he has the sours.  I have him in a community tank with neon tetras, glow light tetras, plattys, a molly and some shrimp and snails.  Ii is a planted tank just not as much growth due to low lighting.  Do I move him to a quarantine tank, any types of medication I can give him, any hope of recovery.
Thanks for any help
Jacob

Now the upper most sore has gone all the way through.  It is the thin part right by his fin.  Any help???

He is very pretty. Maybe bacterial infection? What you can do that will totally help is to do water changes every day. It's a morale booster for the fish, which means his immune system will work harder.

I have put him in a 20 gal quarantine tank and will get some medicine in there.  Any other insight would be helpful.

On  a side note is ther any way I can edit my title to correct the spelling.  It was s late at night and didn't have my speling hat on.
Thanks

I'm afraid this guy might have dwarf gourami disease, from which there is no recovery. From what I've seen it seems to be a result of overbreeding (no surprise).

I lost 6 of these beauties to the disease. It's such a shame because they're such beautiful fish.

I will be doing a 25% water change daily.  Do I have to keep him in the plain jane tank under quarantine or can I let him live out his time in the fully planted tank?

After showing the pictures to the fish guy at my LFS he recommended PimaFix.  I am on day 5 and the sore's have only gotten bigger and are pushing through to the other side as well as opening up more.  He's appetite has been good but tonight he isn't eating as much.  Does anybody have any idea's?

I can almost guarantee it's dwarf gourami disease. There is no cure. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's just no way around it.

what type of fish do you keep with him as certain fish like to nibble on them and they leave them sore marks, can only tell u this as i used to have these gouramis and i had some little tiddlers swimming with him but they wer actually eatin him alive but sometimes they can stand up for thm selves and then they get left to b happy  x

Well this morning we found him doing a nose stand on the bottom of the tank.  Now I need to sterilize the quarantine tank.

But there were no other signs that follow dwarf gourami disease from the research that I have done.  I am still afraid it might of been something of a bacterial or fungus.
