glad to be of assistance,

one more pointer, get a phosphate test kit.

if you have high phosphate the lighting upgrade will grow some lovely algae in next to no time.

on friday my staghorn algae was pearling!!! not quite what i planned. dont panic though, if your readings are too high a bag of "Rowaphos" dumped in your filter will absorb any excess.

i've just made myself a Riccia "lawn" for my 12G. pearling like mad already. i must say i've never seen a plant pearl that much. my mate has 60+ pics on his digicam which he was supposed to email to me today, of course we have a spanner in the works. i'll post updated pics ASAP

keep up the good work, looking good

Thanks for the test kit tip!!

I'm really surprised (and lucky) that the only algae I've ever had, is on my Vallis. But the Molly's take care of that!

I bet thae Riccia Lawn looks great.

It's a pain not having my camera at the moment.

But here's an almost OK full Tank shot.

yeah my 40G was like that, no algae apart from hair algae on the Vallis. so i left it alone and "put up with it". big mistake, it's in a sorry state now with hair algae EVERYWHERE. within 2 weeks of upgrading your lights you may have a problem that is a HUGE pain in the a**e to fix. definatly keep an eye on the Phosphate (the test kit is expensive but definatly a must buy.

I think it looks excellent! Great job you've done there.

I meant to get some of them tong/planter/grip things the other day. Am sick of getting wet for the sake of a few dead leaves.

theyre great, i was hesitant about the "Useless Gadget" factor at first but i must say i use them every day, especially as i have the smallest access hole to the tank now i have 2 tubes in there. (hand wont fit it's that small)

you get a sissor attachment as well, great for pruning.

haha yes. Without taking the whole lid off I can only reach in just past my elbow.!

Your 40G looks great too! Just seen the other post in the photos section.

thanks but MAJOR hair algae in there. just hacked it to bits on the weekend to Kick start the plants should have waited a week it'll look a lot better when it all grows back again.
