Hi

I've had my bog wood in soak for a week now. I've been changing the water in the bucket twice a day. However, the water is yellow again by the time I change it each time. Is there something I'm doing wrong?? Would it be quicker to put it in the tank now???

Thanks

hey gav

i soaked my SECOND piece for a week changing with WARM water everyday and there was still discoloration but no where near as bad as when first soaked

i put mine in the tank after a week and the coloration has gone within 2 days - left with crystal clear water!!

hth?

to be honest,,,,,,,,,,,am not sure BUT i would say no it wont do any harm

i soaked mine in straight tap water half from clean pan of boiled water and half cold - to help it leach out - but was still discoloured when out in tank but like i said no wayyyy near as much

think if u had it in ur tank for ages then soaked in warm straight tap water all the bacteria would die on it...

Oldest trick in the book for soaking wood or rinsing things you've found on the beach (like shells): put in the cistern of your loo. With each flush, it'll get a rinse, and a whole new bunch of water to soak in. How long you want to leave this in depends, I suppose, on how often your loo gets flushed!

Obviously you musnt't do this if you treat the water in the cistern with chemicals, such as those blue water block things.

Cheers,

Neale

Americanized translation for anyone who wants to do it but doesn't know what a "cistern" or "loo" are: Stick the wood in the back part of the toilet (the part against the wall), not in the toilet bowl itself. :p
