I have an established tank. 29 Gallon. I do weekly water changes of 25%. ( just changed water 4 days ago) Only ever have 10 - 15 inches of fish in tank at any one time.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
PH 8

I have 2 live plants (java fern, wisteria)

I have lost 4 fish in the last 2 days. I have been losing a fish a week for some time. I put it down to bullying. I removed the bully last week and that was the first week with no deaths.

The fish appear normal looking. Even when I pull them out of the tank, no slime or decay.

Live fish appear normal except for behaviour today. Lost a neon tetra yesterday, loss of colour but otherwise normal.
Molly is shimmying (can't spell that) looks like it is wagging from nose to tail. It stays in one spot and rarely moves.

Platy are hanging out in gravel at back of tank.

Female betta has lost lots of colour, clamped fins, golden looking and cloudy eyes. She also appears to have white film all over her. She is lying at the bottom of the tank, head down in gravel, and breathing quite heavy. Don't think she will make it though the night. Didn't even come out for food.

Lost 2 gourami in last 2 days. Noticed nothing unusual about them.

No constant flicking.

I also have guppies, more platy, black phantom tetra. Notice nothing strange about them except they aren't swimming around and chasing each other like they usually do.

Treated for ick 2 weeks ago. I did add new fish to tank on Sunday. (No, I did not quarantine, wishing I did now though)

Going though the web, found lots it could be. Velvet, molly disease, neon tetra disease, parasites. Where do I start treating and what do I do first. I do prefer jungle med.

If it matters, I do have green algae on glass, and black algae on some of the fake plants. Pleco is not doing his job too well.

Where do I go from here? :shout:

for starters could you tell us EXACTLY which fish and how many of each are in your tank right now. which and how many new fish did you add on sunday?

Do the fish have golden yellow spots,. gold dusting, or rusty coloured varnish on them.
Turn tank lights out and shine a torch on the fish.

Did the neons go white or a milky substance on the red stripe area.

Shimmies

Symptoms:

This disease is named for the curious behavior seen in afflicted fish. Fish will swim with an odd, shimmying movement of the body. If left untreated, the afflicted fish will become unable to swim and will sit on the bottom, listlessly shimmying. This disease affects mostly livebearers, and particularly Mollies.

Cause:

Cause unkown but may be due to a variety of numerous pathogens, including protozoan, bacterial, and fungal.

Treatment:

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank and increase the temperature to 85°F (27°C). Treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also ensure that the water chemistry is within acceptable ranges. Livebearers' should always be kept in water that has a pH of 7.8 - 8.3 and a hardness of 15°DH+.

Remaining fish in tank are 2 platy, 2 red coral platy, 3 guppy, 1 neon, 2 black phantom.

Gold dust is only on the betta which did not make it through the night.

Neon that died was a milky colour. Other than the colour, no growths on it. Found it lying in a plant and pulled it out. It died later that day.

Molly is shimming. Not too interested in eating this morning. Sometimes at the top sometimes at the bottom in the gravel.

New fish added are 2 dwarf gourami. One didn't make it till next morning. Other died next day. Lying on side gasping, difficulty swimming. Pulled him out and died later that day.

Molly with shimmies is another new fish bought at same store on Sunday. Symptoms appeared Monday.

The other fish in the tank are all about 2 month old. Guppies are a few weeks new. One of the fish that died yesterday I've had for several months.

None of the fish in the tank are more than 4 months old. I've had the tank running since Sept. The other deaths I've suffered, I put down to bullying. Sometimes my new guppy lasted less than 1 week. Have had fish dying in tank for about 1 1/2 months.

I put Jungle fungus eliminator in tank last night. Should I still pull the fish and treat it separately?

Finally managed to get pics uploaded. First one shows betta healthy. Second one is what happened to her colour in 1 day. 2nd day she died. This is hitting hard and fast whatever it is.

I would get treating for velvet.

Velvet far worse than whitespot and harder to get rid of.
Do you think its velvet as some of the symtoms points towards it.
