Does anyone know what has happened to the water in my tank it has gone all snowy. My plants have gone snowy too all within the last 24 hours.I decided to take one of the plants out and now it looks like a snow blizzard. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks

Did you recently set it up?

If that is the case, did you rinse the substrate before putting it in the tank?

It will probably settle out if it's dust from new substrate. I'd also do a water check to make sure the parameters are all still acceptable.

Good Luck

Hi SLC
The tank has been set up for 2 weeks.
The substrate was rinsed through thoroughly before putting back in the tank.
I purchased the tank second hand with fish ,plants etc. Everything been great until 24 hours ago when we noticed the dust on the plant leaves and the fish were going mad eating it.We have since removed the plant and now it looks really snowy.
Will carry out the water check immediately.
Thanks for your advice

Does the "snow" look like some sort of little worms or something? I've never heard of anything like that. If the fish were eating it, it makes me think there might be some real substance to it. Maybe some type of planaria or something equally yucky.

No it doesn't look like anything living.
It doesn't move on the plant and if you look really close it just looks like very tiny / minute bubbles.

Don't think the fish are taking any harm from it.
It just looks awful, cloudy, snowy.
Will do a partial water change and maybe try and filter some of it out.

I can't imagine what it could possibly be. I hope someone comes up with an answer for you, because I'd like to know.
