Does anyone kno how snails breed i was wondering cause i wanted to breed some any help is good thanks

It depend on what kind of snails. In my reckoning, I think snails(most) are female and male, both at the same time, but still needs to exchange sperms.

Some of the more common snails kept in the hobby and how they lay eggs:

Ramshorn: egglayers
MTS(malaysian trumpet snails: live bearers
Apple snails(I read these guys aren't hermaphrodite):egg layers

In a word - quickly.

Actually, it is one of lifes ironies - if you want snails, they don't "appear" and if you purposely introduce them they die. If you don't want snails - they appear in their millions and you fight the damned wretched pesky horrible pests day and night but never win! I hate snails. :hyper:

LL you're so right! Grrrr..... if only you weren't. I just wanted some stupid apple snails to live in my tank... tried two - both died within a week. BAH! lol...

hi Lateral Line

I had a major, major snail outbreak in my new tank. (After adding live plants) which I checked before putting them in!

I was unable to keep up with the snail population it was unbelievable. I found removing the egg more of a problem then the large snail. However once a added the clown loaches. Within two days and I mean two days over 99% of the snail and snail eggs where gone. I have to admit to missing them.

far to quick and the next thing you know you have millions of the little buggers!!!
I hate snails with a passion, i started with 2 now i swear i have 2 billion of them!!!

Yea! About a week or two ago I got a plant for my tank from the pet store and ther were two snails on it then about a week later I look in my tank and there are 5 billion!!!!! I DOES NOT LIKE SNAILS!!!

i was able to catch my pesky snails in my 10 gallon ni the act. they appear to latch on to one another and thats about it. a day or two later u will see a fainlty yellow svale looking mass onm the rock or tank. it sems to looks like a very thin layer of yellowness with a few specks in it ( mine had about 10-15 specs) these are snal eggs. then they grow was to fast and start the cycle over. i have had 2 snails, left unchecked, turn into about 40 in a weeks time. usually u will find 3-5 of those little masses.
