hi, i am fishless cycling a 12uk gallon (15us gallon) tank at the moment, and have been for almost 2 weeks. maybe a bit of a n00b question, could I add some Malaysian Trumpet Snails to the tank while the cycle is going on? (so obviously i would be adding ammonia whilst they are in there) I was just wondering,
thanks :)

This isn't a definitive answer, but I had some of the wild snails that came with my plants running around the tank while I cycled it and they made it through ok. Then again, those things seem to be the invertabrate equivalent of weeds.

thanks alot :) i suppose theres not much you can do when they come on the plants, but i want to know whether i should put them in whilst fishless cycling out of choice.
Anyone else?

I don't know much about snail metabolism - so don't know if they're sensitive to ammonia

Certainly quite a few snails not only survived but hatched out and grew at quite a rate whilst I was cycling my tanks - they weren't Malaysian Trumpets though - so not much help really :p

lol thanks anyway, still looking for a definite answer

Yeah this is no problem

those mylasian snails are little machines,

i have 2 (in seperate tanks) and i don't think i could kill them if i tried.... i'm sure it will be no problem, but as always , you should keep an eye on it and make sure it's still moving.... otherwise... take him out...
