My Friend's tank has a massive snail overpopulation. any strategies for getting rid of them??

Are they ramshorn snails? I hand-picked mine out. But then, I discovered them in the filter media, in the gravel, in the plant leaves, in the driftwood. What kind of fish does your friend have? There are fish that are very good about eating snails. I think loaches fall into that group.

The one loach I know for sure that will eat them is a Clown Loach. They are wonderful little snail killers. Though you are left with the shells because they suck them out. These little guys have always been my snail solution.

If they are apple snails see the link 'apple snails... what to do' in my signature, its a wholesome and healthy method....
