is there a fish out there that eats snails, that would survive in a 20 american gallon community tank.? i need something along those lines my tank is being over whelmed with snails tried every means possible they keep coming back. i need a fish to get rid of them any ideas. this is my last resort and the only thing that will work and keep them under control.

thanks.

puffer or loaches

I got some dwarf puffers today...I dunno wat they r gonna do eat my small snails or nip my fishies

its a pretty bad infestation of snails and they are eating my plants and i am affraid they will endanger my fish

Ever heard of a lil fishie called a rainbow shark? I've had them before and they relish snails like their bigger cousins, clown loaches. Oh and if you want a quicker way, get some coppersafe, it's usually cheaper than a new fish and it kills off snails and most other inverts. It's also a really good velvet med. It's main ingredient is copper salt and is safe for FISH and FISH only. But if you got some inverts of amphibians go with the rainbow shark as it only gets about 6" and only get one. They're like bettas. One per tank, same thing for females.

I was at my pet store and I noticed that they had a gold fish in a community tank! I asked the guy why it was in there and told me that they use them to get rid of the infestation of snails. I don't know if I would waste my money on a gold fish just for that.
