Hello,

I was just wondering if there is a way to stop my blue gourami from always being so skittish when im in the room. Any ideas?

Be around the tank more often, eventually it'll settle in and be calm when it sees you. How long have you had it for now??

Ive had it for about 1 year and 2 months or so. The brichardi and loaches are not skittish though. The brichardi ive had for almost 3 weeks and the loaches well one of them almost 1 year and a half and the other about 1 year.

Hes probably terrified of the African Cichlids in your tank.

Move the brichardi or the other fish, Africans are NOT a community fish.

Yup I second that, you've really got mention the WHOLE tank stock before saying one fish is freaking out... anything else in there?

Wait... you have all these fish in a 10gallon tank?! That's why he's skiddish! Not even room to have a territory. Plus, the filter that you have may be creating too much current for him.

My paernts are getting me a LARGER TANK FOR CHRISTMAS SO I WILL MOVE HIM IN THE LARGER ONE AND {STUPID CAPS LOCK} then i will get something like rams, other gouramis, loaches, maybe a shoal of some tetras such as black phantom tetras. The brichardi and loches will be transported to a 15 or 20 gallon that my brother is giving me. Then the current 10 gallon will be for rearing fry.

I wouldnt keep brichardi with loaches either, their bound to get bullyed and the occupy the same area of the tank. Just do a little research and set yourself up a nice African themed tank. Nice to here about the new tanks, its always fun to set up a tank from scratch.

all right, so what i will do is have the loaches and gouramis put in the new one and have the brichardi placed in the 15-20 gallon my brother is bringing. Then in the 15-20 gallon i will purchase a total of 6 brichardi and a couple of small catfish. It will be an african set up then for the large one will be a community set up with rams, gouramis, loaches, tetras etc. My current 10 gallon will be used to rear fry since im hoping to breed rams and cover some of the cost of my fishkeeping hobby and i might get a betta for my 1 and a 1/2 gallon. What small catfish could go with the brichardi?
