Pictures suggest you were staying out at Koukounaries or similar. I've spent at least a week on Skiathos every year in September for the last 5 years. Am looking around for a flight at the moment actually.

I stayed in Plantanias (bus stop 16) but spent many a day on koukinaries beach (bus stop 24).

LL; I recomend The View resturant in plantanias, great food, great service and a fantastic view, cheap too.

I've always stayed in town, or behind Megali Ammos.

If I find myself out at Koukounaries for lunch, I always eat at Michaelis's place, "Apostolios". He is a pretty ancient retired merchant seaman, has a picture of his ship in the old taverna. He has built a new taverna out back over the winter, so I have not seen it yet. He was one of only 3 that survived the sinking of his ship in the Black Sea. A true gem of a guy, always will stop and chat, and despite being ~hundred years old, will always try to snog the girl you happen to be with. Has a huge, and damn fine, wood fuelled oven in the middle of his plot, excellent food.

At and around mid point, I like several of the tavernas behind Aghios Paraskevi, although I find that area has been developed heavily in the last 2-3 years.

I have friends that own a pension at the inland end of Papadiamantis Street in town. I will probably be there some time in the next 2 weeks for a while.
