does too much airation affect the treatment for ich? or does too less affect it?

You can't have too much airation, if anything it's good because many meds can compromise the gills ability to absorb oxygen.

As far as i'm aware (i could be completely wrong though, and this is a general understanding, not sure if there is another reason specific to ich);
Increased aeriation goes hand in hand with most medication for 4 and a bit reasons;
1) The stress of illness often leads to an increase in respiratory requirement.
2) The stress of treatment often leads to an increase in respiratory requirement.
3) The increase in temperature often used to accelerate the lifecycle of ich (and various other parasites) when treating also makes(you guessed it)an increase in respiratory requirement.
4) Some meds reduce oxygen levels resulting in an ( :rolleyes: ) increase in respiratory requirement.
The bit) Many illnesses can interfere with the gill function of fish leading to an --------guess-------

The main reason I would think you need aeration in the treatment of ich in particular is because you have to raise the water temp which means less O2 in the water.
