mine really seem to relish eating the roots in the over grown tank ( I admit, that's why I collected them in this tank ) so far no ill effects on the vining parts of the plants, but in this tank, they were all started in hang on pots... so there will always be a base root for each plant, even if the dollars fully clear the rest of the wild root growth... I'll just have to find a salad for them, if they make the available roots disappear, or increase the algae cookie feeding frequency... there is still a lot of roots to go, but in a couple weeks, there is noticeably less
